What Is This Product?
Wire is a relatively new product starting up out of Switzerland. It reminds us of a cross between Signal and ProtonMail, and has great promise!
It’s possible that Wire might qualify for the conduit exception from HIPAA’s Business Associate Rule, much like Signal does. However, the company is clear that they do not currently support HIPAA compliance for their customers, but likely will do so in the future.
As such, we wish to respect that stance and recommend waiting for Wire to tackle the project of HIPAApropriateness before we recommend the product for you. We will certainly update this review when they update their approach to HIPAA!
