There is no good way to share bad news.

On Friday, November 19th, after a hopeful meeting about PCTs next new offerings with his friend and business partner, Liath, and a few moments before his beloved wife, Electra, arrived home from the grocery store, Roy Huggins died suddenly and unexpectedly in his home in Portland, Oregon. He is survived by his wife, Electra Allenton.

We are heartbroken by the loss of our mentor, teacher, colleague, friend, and chosen family member. His light and love impacted so many lives.

Roy and his beloved wife, Electra

He deeply loved finding his life’s purpose in helping others. One of the largest ways he helped others was helping others help others. That was the founding purpose of Person Centered Tech. He derived deep joy from this work, right through to his very last moments.

If you would like to share what Roy meant to you, please do so on the memorial page we set up for celebrating his life.

In lieu of flowers (Roy’s cats will eat them,) please consider contributing to the GoFundMe that has been set up for Electra to help provide support as she navigates this time and what a life without Roy means.

To get notifications about Roy’s celebration of life — which includes an option for if you would like to facilitate or contribute in a specific way to the celebration of life — you can do so here.  Using the info you provide on the form, we will disseminate his obituary and other information about his life and death. Please have patience as Electra will be curating this as we know facts and collaborate narratives.

While to many Roy was PCT — and indeed, Person Centered Tech was his brainchild and labor of love — he pulled together an incredibly strong team and full company that has been supporting the work he started. He was confident in us, mentoring and teaching us over the years. Please be assured of Roy’s confidence in our team to fulfill the commitment to serving you in your practices.

We hope you will provide us a bit of patience while we work through the logistics of the “if the worst happens” plan Roy, Liath, and Brian developed over the past years. His passing was unexpected and sudden, and during a holiday week. We have many people to connect with, and plans to unfurl, but we are committed to continuing Roy’s legacy and “keep on keeping on,” providing the behind-the-scenes support we’ve been offering all along.

We will continue to communicate with you about the future of PCT and the specific ways in which we will continue to meet your needs (look out for that correspondence next week,) and what things will look like as we move forward to continue to serve this community that he truly loved.

– Liath Dalton, Brian Smith, and the PCT team
