Roy: | And we’re back. Hi, I’m Roy and I’m here with Liath.
Liath: | Hi everybody.
Roy: | It’s good to see you again. Now that we’re getting to know each other a little bit better. I figured I’d tell you something about me. I used to be a web developer, so I was a programmer for about seven years before I became a counselor. Although; at this point its ancient history.
But, once you’re a geek, you can’t escape. That’s just part of being a geek. So, nowadays, I do things like, I was a technology committee chair for the Oregon Counseling Association. I teach ethics at Portland State University as an adjunct. That’s the normal ethics but, my specialty is tech ethics and digital ethics.
I consult with people about that. I consult with licensing boards. I’m on various rule committees for things like, online therapy and social media guidelines. And, I’m just generally, the tech ethics guy. That’s just my job.
So, I’m Roy, the geeky tech ethics guy. And Liath, maybe tell us a little bit about you.
Liath: | So, I am currently a PhD candidate in religious studies and my particular focus is on the inter-faith movement and I am President of the local Inner-Faith Council here in Portland, Oregon where we are based.
And, I love it.
Roy: | Yeah, good. Yeah. I know you do. Right. And she’s also being a little modest about a lot of what she does but, that’s my style.
Well, okay. But what we’re really here to talk about is the Free CE Courses that we offer you guys. And we do that for a couple of reasons. One, of course is, marketing. We want to draw you in. We’re very transparent around here.
Liath: | That’s true.
Roy: | Right.
But also, the fact that we want to give you some foundation. Like we talked about in the first video. Foundation is important to us because, in our professions most of us didn’t get foundation in this material during grad school. Even I, teaching grad students now, have a hard time giving them all this foundation in the time allotted.
So, these courses will give you a little bit more and also, get you started on a journey of learning about how to deal with tech in your practice. Deal with HIPPA, or whatever it is you’re trying to work with.
Liath: | Exactly.
And so, we have a very full and comprehensive. It’s continuing the education course catalog.
Roy: | Right.
Liath: | But, these two courses that we’re making available to you are really, meant to give you an introduction to that material. And like Roy said, a foundation. But, when you’re done with those. What I invite you to do is, contact me for a free resource consultation. Because I’m sure as much as these courses have helped address some of your questions, they probably also brought new questions up.
Roy: | They do that. Yup.
Liath: | So, with those questions. I invite you to reach out to me and I can help point you to the resources we have that will address your specific questions.
Roy: | Yeah, makes sense. And speaking of which, in the next video. We’re going to talk about one particularly big resource we have. So, yeah, right.
So, we look forward to telling you all about it. And, we’ll see you then.
… And Liath, if people are trying to figure out how to use resources, what’s the best way to go about doing that?
Liath: | The best way to go about doing that is to reach out to me for a free resource consultation.
Roy: | Oh, that sounds nice.
Liath: | And you can do that by clicking the button below.
Roy: | Down there.
Liath: | Or, by calling or emailing. And, all of my contact information is in this email.
Roy: | Right. Great.
Liath: | So, I look forward to connecting with you soon.
Roy: | Yeah. And also, next time we’re gonna tell you about a big resource we have. Which of course, Liath can tell you about during consultation or, you can wait until the video.
So, be sure to open that email and we’ll see you next time.
