Teletherapy Certificate that Meets Washington State Telemedicine Requirements (SB 6061)

When we created our Telemental Health certifications, we wanted to create something that would be actionable, clear, and client-based, so that our colleagues, clinicians like ourselves, could feel empowered in front of the camera and provide a high standard of client care. Leveraging our knowledge of tech, digital ethics, and client care, this seemed like a no-brainer.

And then the global pandemic hit.

Suddenly, everyone was online and finding ways to care for clients, while also monitoring their income and viability as a practice. Our telemental health certificate helped thousands of clinicians get up to speed as quickly as possible.

In the same way, we’re geared up for the next era of telemedicine.

Building upon the foundation of our certificate program, Therapist Lawyer Eric Ström JD Phd LMHC is providing a CE training to address the WA state law specific requirements in order to ensure the requirement is met.

This will be included for WA clinicians in need of it in our certificate program at no additional cost. It will also be included in our clinical staff teletherapy training for group practices.

Person Centered Tech is committed to meeting the teletherapy training needs of Washington-licensed Counselors, MFTs, Clinical Social Workers, and Psychologists. As the requirements under SB 6061 continue to get fleshed out, PCT commits to doing everything reasonably within our power to ensure that our Telemental Health Certificate Program includes the necessary elements for those clinicians to comply with the training requirements of SB 6061 without additional cost to our certificate program holders

Telemental Health Certificate Meets Washington SB6061 Requirement

As behavioral health professionals, our ethical standards require us to have sufficient knowledge, skills, and understanding of any intervention or tool we employ in our clinical work. This standard absolutely applies to our use of technology generally, and to telehealth specifically.

In addition, some specific state laws and regulations further define training requirements. Washington State, for example, has new telemedicine training requirements taking effect on January 1st 2021. These new requirements will mandate training that addresses (at a minimum):

  • current state and federal law,
  • liability, and
  • informed consent

One of the best ways to meet these requirements is through a comprehensive training and certification program, like PCT’s Telemental Health Certification. This equips clinicians to effectively and safely provide clinical services via technology.
